What We Believe

My philosophy of care is grounded in a few simple beliefs that guide every patient interaction.

  • Honesty builds trust. I believe my patients deserve clear, straightforward answers—even when the conversation is difficult. You'll always know where we stand and why I make my recommendations.

  • Knowledge is empowering. I want you to understand your health, not just receive instructions. An informed patient is better equipped to make confident decisions and become an active partner in their care.

  • Healthcare is a partnership. I'll bring my education, experience, and clinical expertise. You bring your life experiences, concerns, goals, and values. Together, we'll make decisions that are right for you.

  • Mental and physical health cannot be separated. Our minds and bodies influence one another every day. Treating only one while ignoring the other often leaves patients feeling frustrated and unheard.

  • Medication is one tool, but not the only tool. While medications can be life-changing for many people, lasting wellness often includes healthy lifestyle habits, good sleep, nutrition, exercise, stress management, supportive relationships, counseling when appropriate, and ongoing education.

  • Progress is more important than perfection. Healing rarely happens overnight. Small, consistent steps often lead to the greatest long-term improvements.

  • Respect matters. Every patient deserves to be treated with dignity, compassion, and without judgment, regardless of where they are in their journey.

  • Questions are always welcome. If something doesn't make sense, ask. If you disagree, let's talk about it. I believe the best healthcare decisions come from open, honest conversations, not one-sided lectures.

My commitment is simple: to provide compassionate, evidence-based care with honesty, respect, and a genuine desire to help you live a healthier, more fulfilling life. I will always strive to give you the information, guidance, and support you need to make informed decisions, because your health is a journey, and I'm honored to walk alongside you.

More Than a Career ~ A Calling

SHINE Primary & Psych Care was built on a simple belief: every person deserves to be treated with dignity, compassion, and hope.

For more than 30 years, throughout that journey, one truth became increasingly clear - mental health and physical health cannot be separated. When one suffers, the other is often affected.

My passion for mental health isn't only professional—it's personal.

Growing up, I witnessed firsthand the challenges of mental illness, addiction, and alcoholism within family and friends. I saw the pain these conditions caused, not only for those struggling, but also for the people who loved them. I also saw how fear, misunderstanding, and stigma often kept individuals from seeking the help they needed.

Those experiences taught me an important lesson: mental illness is not a character flaw or a personal failure. It is a health condition that deserves the same compassion, respect, and medical care as any other illness.

Breaking the Stigma

For generations, many people have been told to "just be stronger," "pray harder," or "get over it." In some families and cultures, mental health simply wasn't discussed. Others feared being judged if they admitted they were struggling.

At SHINE, we want to help change that conversation.

The brain is an organ, just like the heart, kidneys, pancreas, lungs, and liver. When the pancreas doesn't produce enough insulin, we treat diabetes. When the heart or kidneys contribute to high blood pressure, we treat hypertension. When the brain's chemistry, structure, or stress response is affected, mental health conditions deserve that same level of care.

Seeking help for anxiety, depression, PTSD, ADHD, bipolar disorder, or addiction should be viewed no differently than seeking treatment for asthma, diabetes, thyroid disease, or high blood pressure. Healthcare is healthcare.

Whole-Person Care

Mental and physical health are deeply connected.

Chronic illness can affect mood. Depression can contribute to fatigue and chronic pain. Anxiety may cause headaches, digestive problems, chest discomfort, or insomnia. Likewise, untreated medical conditions can influence emotional well-being.

That's why SHINE Primary & Psych Care provides integrated care that looks beyond symptoms to understand the whole person. Every patient has a unique story, and every treatment plan should reflect their individual needs, goals, values, and circumstances.

Our Promise

Whether you're coming in for an annual physical, help managing a chronic medical condition, support for anxiety or depression, medication management, or simply someone to listen without judgment, you will be treated with kindness, respect, and compassion.

Our goal isn't simply to prescribe medication.

Our goal is to educate, empower, and partner with you so you can build lasting health—physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Because healing begins when people feel seen, heard, and understood.
