Meet Stacy Flores, MSN, APRN, FNP-C ~ Founder | SHINE Primary & Psych Care
Healthcare is more than my profession—it has been my life's calling for more than 30 years.
Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of caring for individuals and families across nearly every stage of life and in a wide variety of healthcare settings. My experience spans primary care, behavioral health, hospice, home health, long-term care, community mental health, Veteran healthcare, hospital care, and healthcare leadership. These experiences have reinforced one important truth: mental and physical health are inseparable, and the best care treats the whole person, not just a diagnosis.
Education
My educational journey reflects a lifelong commitment to learning and to providing the highest-quality care.
Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center – Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center – Master of Science in Nursing Administration (MSN)
Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center – Post-Master's Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)
Midwestern State University, Texas – Post-Master's Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) (August 2026 anticipated completion)
As healthcare continues to evolve, I remain committed to lifelong learning, evidence-based practice, and delivering care that reflects current clinical guidelines and best practices.
Empowering Through Knowledge
Education is one of the most powerful tools in healthcare. In addition to patient care, I developed the SHINE Education Series to provide reliable, evidence-based health information written in everyday language. Through the SHINE Insights Blog, I also share practical health tips, current research, wellness strategies, and real-world perspectives on topics that matter most to patients and their families. My goal is to empower individuals with the knowledge and confidence to make informed healthcare decisions and become active partners in their own health journey.
Professional Experience
My career began as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and has progressed through roles as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), Registered Nurse (RN), Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), and, soon-to-be, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). Each step has provided invaluable insight into the challenges patients and families face throughout the healthcare journey.
In addition to direct patient care, I have had the opportunity to help establish a Behavioral Health Unit at Scenic Mountain Medical Center and to serve in a leadership role as Director of Nursing within community mental health services. These experiences strengthened my passion for improving access to compassionate, evidence-based mental healthcare while supporting patients with complex medical needs.
My Commitment to You
Whether you are seeking care for a medical condition, emotional concerns, or both, my commitment is to provide compassionate, evidence-based healthcare that recognizes you as a whole person—not simply a diagnosis.
Every patient deserves to feel heard.
Every patient deserves respect.
Every patient deserves hope.
And every patient deserves the opportunity to heal, grow, and SHINE.
My Philosophy of Care
One of the reasons I created SHINE Primary & Psych Care is that I believe healthcare should never make patients feel rushed, unheard, or defined by a diagnosis.
Every person has a unique story, and understanding that story is just as important as understanding symptoms or laboratory results. My goal is to partner with patients to identify the underlying factors affecting their health while developing individualized treatment plans that promote long-term wellness.
I believe in treating the whole person—mind, body, and spirit.
This includes:
Listening carefully before making decisions
Providing evidence-based, patient-centered care
Using medications thoughtfully and conservatively when appropriate
Encouraging healthy lifestyle changes alongside medical treatment
Educating patients so they can confidently participate in their own healthcare decisions
Collaborating with therapists, specialists, and other healthcare professionals when needed
Healthcare works best when patients feel respected, informed, and empowered.
A Personal Mission
Growing up, I witnessed firsthand how mental illness, addiction, and healthcare stigma affected individuals and families. Those experiences shaped my compassion, strengthened my desire to advocate for others, and inspired me to create a practice where patients are treated with dignity, respect, and understanding.
Mental illness is no different than any other medical condition affecting the body. Just as we treat the heart, lungs, kidneys, or pancreas, we must also care for the brain with the same compassion and evidence-based medicine, without judgment.
My mission is to help reduce the stigma surrounding mental health while providing compassionate care that recognizes the connection between emotional and physical well-being.
At SHINE, our purpose is reflected in our name:
Strength • Healing • Inspire • Navigate • Empower
Strength – Building resilience through compassionate care.
Healing – Supporting physical, emotional, and mental wellness.
Inspire – Encouraging hope, growth, and lifelong wellness.
Navigate – Helping patients confidently understand and manage their healthcare journey.
Empower – Equipping patients with knowledge and partnership to make informed healthcare decisions.
